ANOTHER REASON WHY I LOVE THE OLD GIRL

It's The Old Girl's birthday this weekend.

I picked her up from the airport last night and we went into town for a really nice meal at a restaurant by the marina. She's been in Auckland all week as she has a busy work project that has to be completed or, .....that's what she said. I think that she might have stayed down there to hide from the cousins who've been staying with me this week.

Anyway, when we got home The Old Girl said she had a present for me. I asked her why and she said "Because it's my birthday". She gave me the latest Michael Connolly novel which she knew I'd like. I didn't argue the logic of her giving me a present when it's her birthday but hey, I'm happy.

This morning I presented her with her birthday present that I bought and have been hiding since before Christmas.

It's a free-standing leadlight with a pohutakawa theme that she admired in a local gallery a while back. She loved it so I'm in the 'good books' now.

Later this afternoon it will be a bottle of that excellent Deutz Blanc de Blanc and a dinner of meatloaf, roast potatoes and vegetables.

Happy birthday Lynn. Well done for putting up with The Curmudgeon for so long! xx

Thanks from Lynn.

And - that's a bit cheeky from me. We'll have our 30th' anniversary' next month which attests to the fact that I'm easy to get along with.

I was talking to The Curmudgeon.

I mean, about. Are you the same person? A bit like Robert's Trinity?

THE CURMUDGEON said...

Well I don't have any holy seagull alter ego if that's what you're asking.

Ah Curmudgeon, you are so mysterious!

I think he is admitting to being concreted in this world! Though I could be wrong.

THE CURMUDGEON said...

I'm really not sure if you are wrong or not Robert as I don't understand what you are suggesting.
Look, let's just cut to the chase here and go by the statistics of previous outcomes - you are wrong.

The Chase is a great TV serious.... ok let's do it

Question one. "What is the maximum depth of Wellington harbour in fathoms?"

THE CURMUDGEON said...

Probably not deep enough to bury you and your bizarre contributions.

Unless of course, going by that unusual phrase you used in a previous comment -"being concreted in this world" that you have concrete gumboots on then Wellington harbour only needs to be about 2 metres anywhere to get a satisfactory result.
