The character Victor Meldrew is the best known grumpy old man on television but the real character Arthur Smith the English comedian truly defines grumpiness. He is one of the characters on that great TV series 'Grumpy Old Men' and his low-key, cynical observations are a treat. Everything in life is a hassle to Arthur - he detests kids, travel, restaurants, crowds, shopping, foreigners, the English - everything. Delightful.
