If New Zealand ever becomes crazy enough to impose ridiculous tariffs on other countries the way that the Orange Idiot has done in the USA (and I don't rule this out with Seymour and Peters leading Luxon by the nose) then we might have to start up computer production here.
Fortunately I'm experienced in the minutiae of computer and electronic assembly having spent an hour or so on it this morning.
I've been sorting out items to give away or take to the tip and our old Apple Mac desktop machine that won't start up has to go. The Old Girl was concerned that a recycler might access the stored files on it so I decided to remove the hard drive and the memory before taking it to the E-Waste section of the tip.
I removed the screen and the frame to access the innards.
I then removed the hard drive and disabled the memory.
Then I reassembled it ready for the E-Waste place.
Easy-peasy!
Admittedly there were a few bits and pieces left over...
... but the recyclers I guess are only interested in the precious metals installed. Too bad if they want to get the thing going again.
I wonder if I should send my CV in to Apple just in case?

Ma mi ne frega una sega.
I told you once before that we don't have a frog.
I think he's saying he doesn't give a dam about Apples because he has a Sega; which was the first computer I ever owned.
The last time I took a computer to an E waste company they assured me that it would be scrapped and the drive wiped. But then I had mysterious logins to my face book from somewhere in Wellington so I changed my pass words. You are wise to take the hard drive out. I think they resold mine!
Aswan, Hoover, Clyde or other?
