I studied French at university and, apart from business and holiday trips to France over the years haven't really had a chance to use the language.
We are going by train over a long weekend with an extra day attached so will get four days away. It'll be good for The Old Girl who has been working hard since we came back from Scotland.
We like travelling by train having enjoyed the long distance trains in USA, Australia and the East Orient where the trips were for several days. This will be much shorter but will still give us a chance to see the Canadian countryside.
Hopefully the journey will be peaceful like this:

We are staying three nights in the Latin Quarter in downtown Montreal.
Hopefully there'll be some activity including good music as it is a Canadian long weekend.
That, and visits to churches, art galleries and museums will make us feel good during the day
allowing us for some guilt-free visits to wine bars and restaurants at night.
