The snooker table removal guys came today and dismantled and removed the snooker table for the new owner.
One of the guys. the owner of the business, remembered delivering and assembling the table for us nearly 15 years ago. He commented that the table was in good condition and still 'played' true.
We now have an empty 'front' room at the back of the house*.
After 15 years the legs of the heavy table made deep impressions (depressions really) in the carpet which looked like crop circles,
Much improved |
The room, while looking great as a snooker room will, with new lighting and minimalist furniture look quite grand and will help with the sale.
Another task ticked off.
* Our house is a back- to-front villa. Villa's normally have kitchens at the back and front rooms - well, in the front but when this one was relocated a few decades ago the owners wanted a view from the kitchen over the bay.

Well done!
You're already pulling in the comments!
Relocated? I recall quite a steep driveway. How did they get it up that? That was a brilliant idea fixing the carpet with steam.
The house was brought to McLeod Bay in three pieces by barge from Whangarei. They landed it at Reotahi bay ( next bay along) and transported along Reotahi road to the back of our property beneath Mount Aubrey. It was then slid down the slope on sledges and reassembled. I wish I had photos but this was in the 1980 s I think, pre digital and phone camera technology.

What do you call a table that is near a swimming pool?
That's a joke you'll be able to use when you come to Wellington.
No, that's too sophisticated for Wellington. Maybe Wauinuiomartianland will understand it better.
There's a very popular snooker parlour in Wellington.
You have to get in a queue to get a cue.
A popular Wainuiomata writer wrote a play that took place over big words that were painted on the stage. They were dysgraphia, embankment, accoutrements, anachronistic and assiduous. The playwright was asked the meaning of having these specific big words painted on the stage.
He replied, "Ah, it's just a play on words."
Very good. You see, if you put humour like that in your Christmas letter you’ll get a more positive response.
Not much happening here.
Yes, well, my apologies but I've been busy: decluttering; taking stuff to the tip; giving stuff away; selling stuff; climbing ladders and cleaning things at the top off the house (scary); climbing ladders and tying up the lamp power cords to a higher position in the (once) snooker room (14 foot ceiling - scary); digging (replacing the weed mat under the flagstones below the deck (hard work); moving things for The Old Girl (to the attic, then, down from the attic to the shed, then out of the shed back into the house - sheesh!). I've today been digging up and repositioning the flagstones beneath the deck under new weed mat.
How've your days been going? I haven't seen a lot of new blogging activity from you. 2.30? Knee hurtee? I trust everything is OK.
It's 5.42, I have some work to do.
