BACK TO SCHOOL

I attended my first class at Open Polytechnic tonight. It will be two nights a week and half day Saturdays for the next couple of months. The Old Girl gave me a stern talking to before I left for the 6 to 9PM class tonight. She said "Don't fall asleep. It will be embarrassing" Embarrassing? Who for? The teacher? The classmates? Her? It won't embarrass me. I have spent most of my life going to sleep in class at school, at university, at conferences, in board meetings, while watching TV, during sex...(I jest - really).

The course is National Certificate in Real Estate. Yes, I know, one step up from used car salesman but seriously a reputable real estate firm wants to take me on. After a year of getting refusals from companies who would rather hire pretty young things it was a real pleasure to get acceptance from an industry which recognises and appreciates experience and skills. Admittedly in this industry it is all commission based so they don't have to pay the old bastards but they do have to outlay marketing, advertising and administrative support so they are theoretically taking a risk. I won't let them down - honest (as long as I stay awake).

I feel the need to give you a "I don't know if I like where your life is heading old man' kind of speech. But I suspect you'll react the way many teenagers do when you try to give good guidance- sulk and take it out on those who try to help you.

But I do somewhat understand your desperation, those fancy wines don't come cheap.

What's the name of the real estate agents? It's not LJ Hookers is it?

Bayleys. They are apparently more upmarket than Hookers.

Well that's going to deplete my jokes somewhat.

Mary Patricia, I wouldn't expect you to make vulgar, sexually explicit jokes.
