Someone on Facebook (Neighbourly) posted a pic of the Brit TV series Are You Being Served recently.
I put up a comment:
"Amongst the worst of the low brow British comedies, On The Buses was worse though."
Boy, did this get some response - over 150 replies, overwhelmingly anti and vicious with denigrating comments about my character, 'wokefulness', having no sense of humour etc. etc. It actually confirmed my belief that low brow is the default setting for most people. I've written on this before: LOW BROW and GROWING UP
Facebook can be like a wasp nest where posting or commenting is like poking a stick into it and watching or fleeing as thousands of angry, mindless insects fly out at you. While it can be funny it often is sad to see how many stupid people are out there which reminds me - my last comment on that Facebook post was:
"It’s amazing how making a comment based on a personal view can elicit so much hostility. There are a lot of angry and stupid people out there."
I'll return later to see the results of that grenade I lobbed in.

Ha, ha! On Facebook their grammar always gives them away.
"The need to get there act to gether."
Robert laughs.
Given that he's taken his brain out he probably laughs at low brow comedy shows.
When I recently watched 'Black adder goes forth" I was surprised at the amount of sexual innuendo and outright lewdness! Most of those old British, so called comedies, were like that. It actually takes a lot to make me really laugh.
Actually I don’t mind lewdness and innuendo when it is well written and satirical as in Blackadder and the other great comedies. It’s the unfunny low brow stuff I hate.
Robert really laughs.
Hey, but Robert has practice to do for Sunday!
"Sunday?" Peter wonders.
Maybe he'll laugh his hat off (which is what you should do).
No, my mind does wander but I do recall that The Prowse Boys have a practice session coming up. Look out for reports of fallouts:
- Chris sacking Richard
- Robert getting thrown out of the band
- Robert complaining that everyone else is playing off-key
- Plinkety-plink intros being complained about (this should have preceded the first one)
- All members bar one agreeing that drum solos are not needed
- Spouses being hired as music consultants being voted down
- Confederate flags not to be included in band photos - rainbow ones to be used instead (one band member dissented).
- Lots more ....
