SORRY,BUT

I know that I give Second a hard time about his religious beliefs and I know that people have their right to believe in whatever they want but... religious people seem to think that they have to re-educate everyone else. They have a firm belief that they are right and everyone else is wrong. This wouldn't be so bad if it was based on any firm evidence but its not. The belief is based on mumbo jumbo jottings by probably nutters who would be diagnosed today with having mental disorders. The visions of prophets were most likely schizophrenic and paranoiac delusions. The whole house of cards is 'legitimised' by the fact that the writings are old. If we were to take that logic into other areas modern medicine would be still using Greys Anatomy, the maritime industry would have maps showing a flat earth with dragons lurking at the edges and the airline industry would be using the Wright Brothers' technical manuals for fixing planes. The most annoying facet of this at the moment is the crap written by people on news sites covering the Christchurch earthquake. "It is God's will" and "God was merciful in that no one died" rubbish beggars belief. Do these people ever sit back and analyse what they write and say? If their god was so merciful why did he send the bloody earthquake in the first place.? I know, I know. The answer will be something like "He is testing us" or some such crap. You can't win in any sort of logical argument with illogical people. I just wish that they would keep it to themselves.

Jesus Christ (used as a profanity, not just stating my name)!
What are you on Curmudgeon?
Let me proceed to dissect your post point by point...
1) "Religious people seem to think that they have to re-educate everyone else."
Well, I don't hear any complaints from the Samoan community. Are you saying they're all simple or something? Racist!
2) "They have a firm belief that they are right and everyone else is wrong. This wouldn't be so bad if it was based on any firm evidence but its not."
Well, I suppose I am writing this. Maybe your brain is the size of a tom cat's wedding tackle but, hello, this is me - the friggin' Son of God!
3) "The visions of prophets were most likely schizophrenic and paranoiac delusions."
Okay, granted some were a little on the weirdo side, but their message is backed up by The Bible. Hey, at worst it's a great read. Beats the shit out of most of the crap that you secular boys put on TV!
4) "If we were to take that logic into other areas modern medicine would be still using Grey's Anatomy."
Isn't that a stupid bloody TV show?
(BTW: I added a possessive apostrophe to your quote)
I rest my case on that one.
5) "The most annoying facet of this at the moment is the crap written by people on news sites covering the Christchurch earthquake. "It is God's will" and "God was merciful in that no one died"".
Come on, the dramatics among you feeble creatures love that fire and brimstone stuff! It gives you all a reason to bond. Hey, me and dad ain't stupid, we just try and give the people what they want.
So, in conclusion, get off your high friggin' horse. Second is basically onto it (give or take a few points; well, quite a few really).
Hey Curmudgeon, on judgement day I'll be looking out for you; and that wanker who writes the Bass Bag thingy.

The sad thing is that it reveals God to be a racist. Why did he spare the New Zealanders and not others overseas?

Jesus.

1."modern medicine would be still using Grey's Anatomy."

Sorry I meant Gray's Anatomy the original and very old medical text-book that the American TV show shamelessly stole its title from.

2. Lighten up you silly old bugger.

Got to laugh!
Did any one see Tom Scott's cartoon in the dominion post today?
Steve Hawkings is saying universes can create themselves. God has a hand over his face and satan is saying "well where does that leave me".

"religious people seem to think that they have to re-educate everyone else"
What is there to re-educate? Christianity has held sway for 2007
years.
Who are religious people? Anyone with a deeply held belief?

I wonder if he's trying to say
"Kayak, kayak , kayak".
In which case I think I saw him on Petone beach.
There was a ride on top kayak approaching the beach at an incredibly slow speed. I thought "Goodness" I'm glad I didn't buy one of those sit on top kayaks.
When it finally landed a very, very skinny man scrambled on to the sand.
I thought "Good on you for giving it a go".

So now Stephen Hawkins is religious?

"Religious" can refer to being "extremely scrupulous or conscientious" evidently. But you are right in pointing out that Mr Hawkings is not a religious.
