AND REMEMBER - BE CAREFUL OUT THERE

How much is too much?

The NZ alcohol watchdogs tell us that three units are the maximum amount any adult should have in a day. In wine terms three units equate to 3 glases of wine.
The problem is that the 'glasses of wine' that the watchdogs refer to are like those glasses that old Aunty Beryl uses and she's a teetotaller.

The real glasses that we all use are more like these.

I refer to The Old Girl's favourite glasses as 'buckets'.
They are huge.
She says it's so that 'the aroma of the wine is more pronounced'.

OK, I'll buy that if her fill level was at a quarter and the 'aroma of the wine' has time to percolate but since she half fills the glass and skulls it like in a drinking game I have my doubts.

Old friend Richard (of RBB) is in The Old Girl's camp I think. Somewhere in his history someone must have told him that Chardonnay goes off real quickly once opened so he gulps it all down as soon as possible like he did on the weekend just gone.

..... which led him to being drunk in charge of a musical instrument.

So why this post?

It's only Monday and I'm cooking my dinner (Cappriciosa Pizza) and have already downed a decent sized glass of Chardonnay (Boundary Road, Tuki Tuki Vineyards 2013) and feel like following that with another one or two. Not in Aunty Beryl's glasses either.

Still, I've got a long way to go to catch up with Gerard.
