Scary stuff.
You're right (sorry).
I'm increasingly worried by how religion is making a big comeback in core and everyday politics. Of course it never went away when it comes to Sikhism, Hinduism and Islam in the sub-continent and sectarianism in Ireland (shit, let's not forget about the Balkans) but this more recent alignment with Christianity and Republicanism and right wing politics in USA and Europe is disturbing.
I don't know if you noticed it but when we had a beer or two with Robert and Kylie last year Kylie was espousing right wing politics bound up in catholicism. Robert kept reasonably quiet leaving it to Kylie to speak for them. I felt uncomfortable as there was no room for argument - it was just having to react to silly statements like "Trump is draining the swamp" and "the people are being given fake news".
Religions like christianity bring blind belief (faith) that, when politicised connect with power and danger as seen in USA with the Supreme Court being able to suppress voting rights, personal freedoms, abortion choice and sexual orientation choices.
I'm glad that I'm in my last quarter and no longer going to be in this fucked up world.
You're not wrong.
Parli merda.
