I read this on the NZ Herald app today - NON-CONSENSUAL IMAGES ON-LINE
"Sexually explicit images and footage of women are being shared by men on the social media platform Reddit without their consent."
Really?
Financial consultant turned social media influencer Tanvi Shah was shocked to discover a photo of herself on the site."I assumed Reddit is a positive forum where people share reviews and talk about people in a positive way," she told Panorama. The 26-year-old found a photo from her Instagram account that had been posted in a Reddit group dedicated to men leering at women.
She knew she only shared these photos with one person, her ex-partner.
Georgie went to the police. Despite having a written admission of guilt from her ex-partner admitting that he was responsible, he stated "he didn't mean to hurt or embarrass", she was told by the police that there was nothing they could do.
OK, anyone can make a mistake but did this woman really think that sending naked images of herself to a boyfriend was a good idea? This woman is an intelligent professional but still comes across as naive and stupid. The surprising thing to me is how prevalent this is among mature and otherwise sensible people let alone the silly teenagers and pubescent and insecure kids out there. Where do they think those fanny and dick pics are going to end up?
Unbelievable.
Talking about dick pics - here's one:
"I've got a teapot (broken) all I need now is a tune." |
