So you think you know something about these photographs?
Yes, they were both taken in the 1930s.
Have a closer look. In the one at the top, at the big rally, the figure at the centre isn't of Adolph Hitler, it's George Washington. The rally was at Madison Square Garden in New York on February 20, 1939 when more than 20,000 members of the German American Bund, a pro-Nazi organisation, gathered under the pretext of celebrating the birthday of George Washington.
In the second photograph, taken in 1937 on Long Island New York the American Bund are marching out of their summer camp (Camp Siegfried) where Nazi ideology was taught and the Third Reich was openly celebrated. Take a look at the flags that they carried.
Should we be worried? These events took place in the 1930s and we know how Nazi Germany turned out but ......
..... look at these photographs from 2019.
The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation in Portland had a Nazi flag hanging on the wall inside a state parole office .
A neo-Nazi group’s protest of a LGBTQ Pride festival in Detroit.
There are many images of the rise of neo-Nazis and White Power groups in USA and Europe to be found from last year and the murderer who killed all those people in Christchurch last year has links to white, right and fascist groups.
"Father, father
We don't need to escalate
You see, war is not the answer
For only love can conquer hate
You know we've got to find a way
To bring some lovin' here today, oh oh oh"
