FBI monitoring.
Electronic toll collection.

Many other spying and snooping methods.
The above are some of the ways that our privacy is being compromised and things that we've taken for granted in the past like shopping, entertaining, educating ourselves and socialising can put us under threat.
Who knows - maybe the Catholic Church has developed some digital way of tracking the congregation and potential sinners? If I was Il Papa I wouldn't trust those left-footers to tell the truth in Confession at all (I was, after all a Catholic and told many lies in Confession). I'd set up some way of tracking the sinners - maybe using The Holy Ghost.
