I came across a very interesting media item today which was interesting, informative and moving.
No, I'm not talking about Richard (of RBB)'s latest post about goats. I did say "interesting, informative and moving".*
While driving home from the supermarket (and recovering from the shock of a $531 Countdown bill for a trolley of grocery essentials and just a few treats!) I listened to a Jesse Mulligan interview with Deborah Manning, the human rights lawyer who spent nearly five years fighting to allow Ahmed Zaoui, a former Algerian MP to come to New Zealand as a refugee in 2003.
This is an interesting (and informative and moving) interview and worth listening to. Here's the link:

Dave Dobbyn wrote and released a song relating to this. 'Welcome Home' is about refugees and had Ahmad Zaoui in the 2005 video.

What a lovely song!
Welcome all to Aotearoa.

Nice words.
My understanding is that he cares for civil rights and humanitarianism in his birthplace of Algeria but you can just as easily find out why he returned by reading reliable news reports.
