I've often thought about whether what people through the ages attributed to gifts and punishments from gods might actually have come from beings from other planet and solar systems - aliens.
The problem with this idea though is why they stopped communicating and educating about 2000 years ago or more.
There have been many theories about why, through the ages, humankind has been 'kick-started' by discoveries and inventions that seemed to come from nowhere and led to incredible advancements:
- use of fire
- use of metals
- navigation
- engineering and construction techniques
- etc.
Who can not marvel at how temples, pyramids, sacred sites like Stonehenge and Easter Island statues and other phenomenal creations were built given limited technology?
One of the most intriguing artefacts is the The Antikythera Mechanism which has baffled experts since it was found on a Roman-era shipwreck in Greece in 1901. The hand-powered Ancient Greek device is thought to have been used to predict eclipses and other astronomical events.
Supposedly made by Archimedes this 'calculator' bears no resemblance to anything made previously and there was no on-going development of the machine. It's almost as if it was found to be too complicated and tossed away.
Can anyone explain this?*

Ok I'll write some thoughts.
1. There is only one God, so your use of the plural is unnecessary.
2. Why are there not accounts of space ships?
3. Jesus was born. No body claims he arrived in a space ship.
4. God is spirit and our spiritual side is always in contact with God. For instance visions and revelations Saints have.
5. Ancient civilizations had very advanced concepts of philosophy, mathematics and astronomy. The Persians knew the "star of Bethlehem" was extraordinary.
6. Many of the skills and much of the wisdom of these civilizations have been lost to us.
7. I'll be in trouble if I do not stop and make Sue's breakfast.
