I'VE BEEN THINQING

This caught my eye this morning and underlines the stupidity of Fox News 'journalists'.

WHY TRY AND SAVE EARTH WHEN AFTERLIFE IS REAL?

"The hosts of Fox & Friends Sunday were discussing Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy’s pledge to be guided by faith if he wins in 2024, noting how religion is often referenced more by Republicans than Democrats. Co-host Rachel Campos-Duffy took that a step further, saying liberals only see Earth as the endgame while conservatives look beyond."

Rachel Campos-Duffy said about Democrats - “For them, where we live right now, this place, Earth is it, so everything’s on the line here for them. They think, as you said, they can perfect this Earth. Those of us who have faith don’t believe that, and we believe how we act here determines where we go after. And so we got to behave.”

Have a look at the video clip inserted into the Daily Beast article. This is a good example of nonsense in the THINQ categories of questions*.

* The THINQ approach encompasses 4 question categories: Trivial, Hard, Impossible, and Nonsense. When posing questions, each one of these categories has a particular role to play.
  • Trivial: Fear of being characterised as “ignorant” or “stupid,” or being laughed at.
  • Hard: Fear of being characterised as “nerd” and “know-it-all.”
  • Impossible: Thinking it is pointless to ask a question that cannot be answered. Fear of being characterised as “smarty-pants” (or worse).
  • Nonsense: Might seem inappropriate. Fear of being negatively characterised, or, that the respondent might be offended.
