American and even some world news is becoming obsessed again by Donald Trump in allowing themselves to report on the orange idiot more than on important events.
This happened between 2015 and 2021 and only serves to inflate Trump's ego. He's so self-possessed that even bad press is liked by him because they mention his name. It's kind of like how Robert's attention increases if you mention his name in a blog post.
As you know I have Flipboard on my iPad which gives me free access to as many news outlets as I want.

In all of these recently, a significant part is given over to the USA run up to the elections and Trump and his legal, financial, personal, and political problems. Like the Royal Family it is all too much and we need to see the back of this idiot. Unfortunately and unbelievably Trump is leading Biden in polls in most states in USA. This in the face of the many criminal and civil lawsuits he's involved in, his ridiculous pronouncements, his grift and graft schemes like bible selling and the fact that nearly all of his previous political associates have come out to denounce him.
America is in a parlous state which, to be honest, I don't give two stuffs about but ... whatever the Americans do does effect the rest of the world unfortunately and if the red hatted idiots triumph then look out world. Old and safe alliances like NATO, UN, NORAD, ANZUS and various agreements like the Paris Agreement on Climate change could go the way of the Iranian nuclear agreement and various peaceful trade agreements with China and other potentially dangerous countries. Trump's ignorance of history, foreign affairs and geopolitics and the fact that he surrounds himself with crazies and rabid white christian nationalists like Stephen Miller would make it a certainty that the world will not be a safer place if he were to regain the presidency.

He probably reflects mainstream USA, like how the original Movie 'Friday the 13th' was panned by the critics but made 50 million in the box office.
