NO YOU CAN'T GO BACK TO CONSTANTINOPLE

THE FOUR LADS

The Four Lads

"Istanbul (Not Constantinople)" was originally recorded by the Canadian vocal quartet The Four Lads on August 12, 1953. This recording was released by Columbia Records as catalog number 40082. It first reached the Billboard magazine charts on October 24, 1953, and it peaked at #10. It was the group's first gold record.

Yes, the Wikipedia history does tell us that they had other gold records but those were pretty lame compared to 'Istanbul'.

Pretty lame too is the band name ' 'The Four Lads'. No wonder Tony (and Richard) were captivated by it. The only name lamer is the band's original name  - The Otnorots which is 'Toronto' spelled backwards. Wow!  These guys rock.

The Four Lads practising what Tony taught them on how to pick up women.
First: wait until they fall over.

Whoah there Sparky! You're getting your posts mixed up to comment on (which, mea culpa, I've also done).

I didn't say that I was moving from one silly religion to another. Read the subtext here:

"Going by the claptrap that Robert espouses (another little joke there) I think I'd rather have been on the side of the Eastern Orthodox division (they have better hats)."
