DAY NINE ....

..... and everything is OK up here (⬇️).

Following that pessimistic post I wrote previously I should balance it with a more optimistic one.

The weather is great - warm, sunny and windless which is great for gardening, walks and swimming. Yes, swimming. The water is still warm enough and with no wind is very calm making it ideal for a splash about.

With no rain for ages there's no run-off from the hills so the water is crystal clear. This is aided by the fact that for the last 9 days as part of the lockdown there has been no boating activity. Obviously those noisy boats of all shapes and sizes add to pollution (diesel, oil, stirring up sediment etc.).

Normally from this Reotahi vantage point at the end of our road there would be dozens of boats darting about.

It's been quite noticeable that with curtailed fishing activity, the fish population will replenish.
At the local jetty schools of snapper, kingfish and others can be seen milling about.

I did a bit of tree and bush pruning this morning before it got too hot. I'll soon have another trailer load of garden waste to get rid of but the rubbish dumps are all closed. Bummer.

Good news from down south with Richard getting the all clear on a health problem. I'm pleased about this as he's nearly as old as Methuselah me so he needs to take care of himself. He says that the lockdown is going well for him and Shelley and that they're communicating with 'the kids' and having on-line fun.

Robert seems to be enjoying being at home. It took a pandemic for him to have a holiday. It hasn't stopped him from his anti-government (Labour) views though. He should have been born in the USA and could wear a red cap and go to MAGA rallies.

Glad to hear the senseless slaughter of fish is curtailed.
It might be a bit risky to wear a red hat in Moera.
