Norman woke early and looked out at the garden.
"Mmm - looks good" he thought.
Norman liked the garden, especially on nice mornings that were still a bit cool. The plants and vegetation were crisp and fresh on mornings like this.
Norman made his way along to the vegetable patch keeping his back to the green hedge so he couldn't be seen. The green background was helpful to Norman as was the nice big lettuce that he had his eye on. Norman was green you see. Norman was an aphid.
"Now, as long as that gardener doesn't see me." he thought.

I'm glad I'm giving you inspiration.
Though you are sounding a bit like Potter.
It is rabbits and finches that eat lettuce.
I guess that green finches could get away with it unnoticed but think that green rabbits might stand out.
