I've been watching some games and highlights of the FIFA World Cup football and there have been some surprising results and phenomenal displays of skill.
There have also been many displays of that silly soccer scam - the deliberate fall to gain a penalty or free kick. Now there can be horrendous leg injuries from foul play in football but often the players push it a bit. I said to The Old Girl that it would be good to make a spoof video of this. She said it would have been done, many times. Sure enough, when I looked on-line there are a few of these. Here's one:
I'm watching the Argentina v Netherlands quarter final game live at the moment while writing this post. Three quarters through the first half with the score 0:0 I go off for a pee. On coming back to watch I hear the announcer saying, after the replays were shown - "that must be the greatest Lionel Messi pass ever, setting up the goal for xxx". Typical. Bloody Murphy's Law.
