IT'S HERE ....... post #1 of 84

......  I promised you  a post on the garden development. It seems like a big project so this post will develop into a series of posts. I'm anticipating at least 84 posts like that excellent Netflix series Escobar which I just finished watching which ran to 73 episodes.

Well, there here and everywhere is the requirement

I mentioned before that the front garden* is pretty untidy and needed a major do-over. The Old Girl contracted a gardener to come in and fix things. On Monday the gardener and his mate arrived and have been here each day all week. They have already transformed the front garden by: ripping out at least 8 trailer loads of weeds and rubbishy shrubs; cut down unwanted trees like the monkey apple ones; trimmed and reduced the flax and cabbage trees; installed some railway sleepers as support; laid down weed mat and bark and levelled out areas for laying down shell and gravel pathways.

Here's a pic of what it looked like at the beginning of the week.

Here's what it looks like now.

This is only partly done as we will have to plant a lot of ground cover and shrubs and small trees - all native. The Old Girl and I went into town yesterday and spent up large on a whole lot of plants. That can be her birthday present (I was just kidding about it being the ladder platform I mentioned in an earlier post).

The uncovering though, highlighted the need for installing some kind of retaining wall at the front and along the driveway so we had a landscaper in today. He will be providing a quote which I shudder to think will amount to.

At best we'd like a stone or rock wall like this:

At worst we might only be able to afford something like this:

Maybe a compromise of something in between will be necessary.

Stay posted.

The sone and rock wall looks the best.
Not sure where you'd get the 'sones' though.
Might need to use a dictionary.

They ripped out at least 8 trailer goods of weeds! Why wasn't grandma helping?

Oops, sorry, I meant grammar, not grandma.
Oh hell, what does it matter?

'Hoisted' and 'petard' come to mind.
