LOOK I KNOW THAT THE OLD SCHOOLTEACHER JOKER WILL CRITICISE THIS AND SAY THAT I'M JUST DOING A PASTED LINK ...... oops, I just noticed that I had caps on - anyway, that old guy will complain at the link without being connected to a 'proper' post. I accept that. It is what it is. No use crying over spilt milk. Actions speak louder than words. The grass is always greener on the other side. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree. You can't judge a book by its cover. You can't please everyone. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger. Love is blind. Ignorance is bliss. Hope for the best but plan for the worst.
I had been looking for video links for a couple of previous posts and came across this Paul Simon one. It is brilliant and that's why I want to share it. It's not necessarily for Richard though as no doubt he's very familiar with the song and has seen the video. No, this is for Robert who no doubt is unaware of the song and has never seen the video since he lives in a sort of vacuum populated only by the Catholic Church and things related to it, fishing, violin compositions and garden ornaments.
Not this one. |

"The grass is always greener on the other side."
Not if the other side is a road or a basketball court.
Or an LP record, or a slice of bread, or a TV channel but normal, non-pedantic schoolteachers wouldn't bother with that argument.
"The apple doesn't fall far from the tree."
It could if the tree was on the side of a cliff or if there was a hurricane.
"You can't judge a book by its cover."
You can if the book has 'THE BIBLE' written on its cover."
"It is what it is."
Not if it's a lie.
"No use crying over spilt milk."
Not true if you don't want the tears to fall on the ground.
Finished?
