ADDICTED TO LOVE*

ADDICTED TO LOVE - ROBERT PALMER

* They really mean 'addicted to sex'.

Addiction to sex or 'Sex Addiction' isn't a real thing.

It's a bogus syndrome dreamed up by people with too much fame or wealth who use it to excuse their lack of willpower and absence of boundaries. All too often we hear of a film star or celebrity claiming that the reason they were sleeping with lots of young girls (or boys) is because they have a sex addiction. They then pay exorbitant amounts of money to charlatans in the health fringes to undergo 'treatment'.

Give us a break.

If sex addiction was a thing then we are all  suffering from it. We are all sexual beings and like a bit of rumpy pumpy - even those so-called celibate Catholic priests and brothers (I'm not sure about the nuns but suspect that they give themselves a feel from time to time and sometimes take it to extremes like old Sister Mary Fruitloop, see: HERE ).

Addictions are over emphasised in our modern times, I guess because when they involve celebrities, reporting on them sells magazines and newspapers and supports all of the trash in social media. When it comes to sex addiction it seems that only the bogus and money-grabbing 'shrinks' are referenced. There are no serious scientific based studies and certainly no legitimate clinics and hospitals that deal with the 'problem'.

Celebrities who've used the old 'I'm addicted to sex' excuse to explain their behaviour haven't thought about the fact that because they are attractive, famous and/or wealthy gives them more opportunity than the ordinary 'Joe' to get that rumpy pumpy.

The problem, if there is one, isn't in addiction but more in compulsiveness and compulsive behaviour can be harmful - to oneself and others.

Let's be careful out there.

I guess old Robert Palmer (dead now) isn't as popular as I thought.
