Things are taking shape with the garden. After a day of rain yesterday, today is bright and sunny which means that things will dry out.
The gardeners did a sterling job yesterday working all the day through the rain. They got the railway sleepers installed as borders, created areas for some walkways, laid weed-mat and put in bark shavings. While uncomfortable for them, the rain helped to 'bed' in the bark. We provided them with flat whites made on my trusty coffee machine.
The landscaper sent through two quotes for retaining walls. As expected the stone one, the one liked and recommended by Richard 'moneybags' Prowse, is too expensive being $20,000 for the roadside frontage and along the driveway.
The quote for the wooden one is $9,500 which is what we'll go for.
We already have wooden retaining walls at the other side of the driveway and at the back of the house so I guess having wooden retaining walls at the roadside and the driveway makes sense.

The likely look of the new wooden retaining wall.
It would be nice to have stone but the cost is prohibitive. Maybe Robert who said that he would have opened twice as much very expensive Champagne for The Old Girl's birthday can afford it but we can't.

Only 82 more garden post to go.
Yep, and Lynn is already planning some ground cover that will drape over the wood - native I hope. Episode # 53 of the 'Garden Series' might show this.*
* Can someone wake Richard up.
